Grand Rapids celebrates the arts with the First Friday Art Walk on March 1 with activities at the Reif Gallery, MacRostie Art Center, Giinawind Creative Space, Old Central School and Rapids Brewing.


GRAND RAPIDS — Grand Rapids Arts presents the First Friday Art Walk from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 1.

MacRostie Art Center Executive Director Katie Marshall joined the KAXE Morning Show to discuss details.

Reif Gallery

Ken Waldman, Alaska’s Fiddling Poet, plays from 3-6 p.m. Waldman has drawn on 37 years as an Alaskan resident to produce poems, stories and fiddle tunes.

MacRostie Art Center

“Feral Biome: Shadow Work,” an interactive mixed media installation by Amanda McElray Hunter, opens in the Minnesota Gallery. There’s a reception with food and other refreshments from 4-7 p.m. and an artist talk at 6 p.m.

A free fashion show and poetry event will follow the reception with the designers of Buckanaga Social Club and Duality Collection.

Rapids Brewing

Listen to live jazz with Sam Miltich and Friends and special guest Liz Ashworth on mandolin. The group will perform from 6-9 p.m.
