Border News: Legislative effort for unemployment benefits and Northshore Mining workers

On the Friday Morning Show Heidi Holtan talks with Marshall Helmberger editor and publisher of the Timberjay Newspaper. This week they talk about Rep. Rob Ecklund who has drafted legislation to extend unemployment benefits for laid off Northshore Mining workers for an additional 26 weeks.

Marshall gives an update on the Voyageurs National Park officials at Crane Lake who were confronted by local residents and the owners of resorts and other businesses that serve the park, over concerns about overzealous law enforcement and a recent tasing.

Heidi and Marshall talk about Mark Haarman from Ely who is on a mission to halt the spread of European buckthorn, an invasive shrub that is spreading throughout the region harming the forest ecology.
