National Farmers Market Week - Minnesota Style!

The Green Scene

Erin Haefele of The Green Scene in Walker organizes the weekly Walker Farmers Market.

These people are not just farmers. They have to create a whole storefront when they go to a market. So… they have to create the labeling; they have to create the signage… It's an entire retail store for them once a week, and it amazes me how well they have done that. That is a difficult task for any business owner. And then having to be a farmer or crafter on top of it…It just is amazing to see how well they have done and put it all together! – Erin Haefele

It’s National Farmer’s Market Week! Erin Haefele from the Walker Farmer’s Market joined the morning show today. She discussed the Walker market's humble beginnings, the positive impact it makes on the Walker community, and how it’s grown to over 40 vendors selling vegetables, flowers, art, baked goods and much more every Thursday from 9-2.

It is my favorite day of the week… On a Thursday morning when I wake up and get to go to the farmers market, it brings me a ton of joy to see these people all come together. It makes me very proud of the vendors and what a good job that they have done each week. And my husband and I truly, truly enjoy just being a part of it. I feel very lucky. – Erin Haefele
