Chronic Wasting Disease: What It Is, Mandatory Testing and How You Can Help (even if you aren't a hunter!)

MN DNR's Dr. Michelle Carstensen, Wildlife Health Group Leader

Chronic wasting disease (CWD)is a neurological disease affecting the
cervid family – deer, elk, moose, reindeer and caribou. It causes
characteristic spongy degeneration in the brain of an infected animal.

Dr. Michelle Carstensen from the MN DNR was back with us to talk about CWD. There's an upcoming meeting at Minnesota North - Itasca (ICC) on Tuesday August 23rd at the Chukar Auditorium from 6-8pm.

DNR staff with the wildlife health and big game programs will share information about hunting regulation changes and Chronic Wasting Disease management. Zoom links are available through the MN DNR.
