First up, the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band will be at the Reif Center in Grand Rapids, Friday at 7 p.m. Jorgenson, a former guitarist of the Hellecasters and Desert Rose Band and a collaborator with artists like Elton John, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan and more, leads an all-star bluegrass quartet with Herb Peterson of The Dillards, Mark Fain of the Ricky Skaggs' Kentucky Thunder Band and Patrick Sauber. The group has one album out called From The Crow’s Nest.
Also Friday, Corpse Reviver is playing the Grassroots Concert Series in Nisswa at 7 p.m. An old-time trio of fiddler Jillian Rae, Adam Kiesling of Pert Near Sandstone and percussionist Mikkel Beckman. Inspired by Harry Smith’s legendary Anthology of American Folk Music, the group gives new life to traditional tunes. Grassroots takes place at the Journey Church.
On Saturday, Eric Cyr is playing at the Cana Wine Bar in Crosby at 7 p.m. Cyr is a folk musician and author who also leads the band Cyr and the Cosmonauts. They’ve released a pair of albums showcasing his poetic and literary-inspired songwriting.
Wrapping up, Corey Medina & Brothers will be at the Bobber Bar in Cass Lake, Saturday at 7 p.m. Recently, the quartet dropped a live recording of "Sitting On Top of The World” on YouTube, and they’ll be bringing their high-octane electric blues to the Bobber stage.
