The ever-busy Rich Mattson is playing solo this Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Ore House in Gilbert. Mattson has been busy with new group Rangers, his regular band The Northstars and other projects, and he'll be playing multiple shows throughout the area this holiday season. Check back here on The Setlist for more info. Music this Thursday begins at 6 p.m.

It's First Friday once again, so high-quality jazz is coming to Rapids Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids at 6 p.m. Normally led by Sam Miltich, this time the Clearwater Hot Club will be led by his dad Matthew Miltich on lead vocals. Sam will still be there on guitar, alongside Doug Haining on sax, Nathan Norman on drums and Steve Pikal filling in for Matthew on bass.

It's the final show of the fall/winter season at the Grassroots Concert Series in Nisswa, with Jack Klatt performing Friday at the Journey Church at 7 p.m. Klatt is a guitar troubadour who began his career in country blues, but now plays a variety of Americana source genres and releases music on acclaimed independent label Yep Roc Records. Grassroots Director Kelley Smith described him as having "an unfair amount of swagger" in a KAXE interview.

One final Friday show is MorningBird at Brigid's in Bemidji at 7 p.m. The Jill Burkes-led group are bringing the full band to Bemidji with Josh Palmi, Shane Kingsland and Jim Pietila. The band plays folk, rock and country and will be drawing from their debut album, Echoes in the Meadow and a variety of covers.
