We are honing in on Bemidji and Grand Rapids in this week's Setlist, with everything from dinner time sets to theater shows to a fundraiser for a local animal shelter.
Doyle Turner is playing the Turtle River Chophouse this Thursday at 6 p.m. A White Earth Nation singer-songwriter, Turner writes heartfelt country and folk songs with jazzy flourishes, and is one half of the duo International Treasures.
On Friday, Between Howls will be at Rapids Brewing at 7 p.m. The group are a dual vocalist duo of violinist Ren and guitarist Nick Howl, who draw from rock, folk and soul. They recently released their debut album, Cabin Fever.
The Cause for Paws Concert is this Saturday in Grand Rapids at Klockow Brewing with four acts playing throughout the day. A fundraiser for local animal shelter Great Tails Animal Rescue, the event will feature The Beat, Jason Waldron Band, Ditty Wish and McKeon Hugh Roberts. Music begins at noon.
One of Minnesota's premier bluegrass groups is playing in Bemidji this Saturday at the Historic Chief Theater. Monroe Crossing — named after the father of bluegrass, Bill Monroe — play traditional, gospel and contemporary bluegrass, with foot-tapping rhythms and soaring melodies.
