There's a little bit of everything on The Setlist this week: longtime collaborators celebrating a CD release; a Winter Solstice celebration with rock, punk and tribute band; and a couple of Americana singer-songwriters.
Sam Miltich & Charmin Michelle were set to be at MaCrostie Art Center in Grand Rapids on Thursday, but the show has since been canceled due to weather. The pair released an album of duets in 2022 called Good Treble, and they were planning to celebrate its physical release at MacRostie. Both are award-winning and critically acclaimed jazz musicians, Michelle as a vocalist and Miltich as a guitarist.
Christopher David Hanson is a rootsy Iron Range singer-songwriter who, for many years, led an eponymous rock 'n' roll band and now an acoustic folk group called Woodsong Souvenir. He is playing a solo show this Friday at 6 p.m. in Virginia at the Sugar Shack.
The Winter Solstice is this Saturday, and Rapids Brewing Co. is hosting a concert in celebration starting at 5 p.m. Local rock and punk groups, The Consequences, Underground til' Sundown, Modern Day Wasteland and Smalltown Syndrome will be joined by Sir Psycho, a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band from Minneapolis.
In Park Rapids, Charley Wagner and Debbie Center will be at Wine Not?, Saturday at 6 p.m. Wagner is an Americana singer-songwriter and guitarist, and Center is a skilled piano player who blends her classical background with a love of popular music in a style she calls "classical rock."
