Miles Nielsen is an alternative and roots rocker from Illinois, and son of Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick. He is bringing his band The Rusted Hearts to Aitkin this Friday, performing at The Terrace at 6 p.m. They will be joined by openers Six Mile Grove, from Rochester.
Giant's Ridge in Biwabik is hosting Rock the Ridge this Friday with The Belfast Cowboys and Tired Eyes. The Cowboys are a nine-piece rock and blue-eyed soul group from Minneapolis that originally formed as a Van Morrison cover band. In recent years, they have released multiple albums of original music. Tired Eyes is an Alan Sparhawk and Rich Mattson-led Neil Young cover band with a particular focus on the twin guitar attack of the Crazy Horse days. They are opening at 6 p.m.
Virgil Caine Band is a blues rock group out of Duluth with over 40 years of experience and three full-length albums. According to the band's website, their sound features "Texas-style blues guitar" and "Chicago-blues influenced harp." They are playing at the Eagles in Grand Rapids at 8:30 p.m., both Friday and Saturday night.
On Saturday, Keg N' Cork in Bemidji is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a block party 2-10 p.m. Jerry Stromo of the Honky-Tonk Troubadours plays at 2 p.m., The After 5 Hooley-gans at 5, and Brock Beaulieu & Brothers at 8 p.m.
