Betafuse is an electronic duo from Minneapolis, playing Friday night at Rail River Folk School in Bemidji. They mix live instrumentation from drums and guitar with electronic music software to create fully improvised sets. Joining them are rock band Conduit and vinyl-spinning Bemidji house DJ Big Gravy. Music begins at 8:30 p.m.

In Grand Rapids, Klockow Brewing Company is hosting its annual celebration, Der Erste Mai on Saturday starting at noon. Six punk bands from around the state will play throughout the day, with music kicking off at 2 p.m. Local band Underground til' Sundown is closing the night and celebrating a new album release.

Back to Bemidji for some traditional folk music from Red Thread. The group is led by vocalist Sarah Larsson and released its debut album Immigrantke, inspired by the 100th anniversary of the 1924 Immigration Act, earlier this year. The show is Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Bemidji Public Library.

Hobo Revival is celebrating a new album release and its 10th anniversary at a show this Saturday in Coleraine. The album was recorded with Rich Mattson at Sparta Sound, and the band will be at The Locker Room at 7 p.m.

Also at 7 p.m., The Mighty Trains Band is playing in Ideal Corners at the Old Milwaukee Club. A rock 'n' roll Americana group from the Brainerd Lakes Area, The Mighty Trains released their debut EP in 2023.

Three members of The Mighty Trains Band joined "Centerstage Minnesota" on July 14, 2023, for an interview and performance.

The 26th edition of the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival begins this Sunday with the Children's Music Showcase at 10 a.m. The festival runs for eight days with each day focusing on a different neighborhood of Duluth and Superior.

Malachy started his radio career at a college radio station, where he played weird music in the middle of the night to possibly no one. On a good night maybe his parents were listening. Nonetheless, he was hooked on public radio and is still doing it today. He joined Northern Community Radio in 2022, where he gets to share his passion for local music as Producer of Centerstage Minnesota, an all Minnesota music show airing Fridays at 2pm.
