The highway had been closed since May for construction.

TURTLE RIVER — The Minnesota Department of Transportation reopened the span of Highway 71 stretching from Turtle River to Tenstrike on Saturday, Oct. 3. The construction closure began in May.

Beltrami County Road 23 is now closed at Highway 71 for crews to complete the widening of the intersection and is expected to reopen late this week.

According to a MnDOT news release, the $8.8 million project includes pavement reconstruction, a southbound bypass lane at Turtle River Lake Road and entrance culvert replacements.

MnDOT reminds drivers to slow down in any work zone, obey posted speed limits and watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.

You can find more details on the Hwy 71 Turtle River to Tenstrike project website.
