BEMIDJI — One person was found dead and another person was injured after a mobile home fire Sunday, Sept. 20, in Northern Township.
Bemidji Fire Department officials responded around 3 a.m. to the report of a structure fire. The report stated one occupant had escaped from the home on Town Hall Road, while another was unaccounted for.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-wide mobile home engulfed in flames. Responders attempted to enter but were unable to because of fire conditions, according to a fire department news release.
"As crews brought the fire under control, they entered the home and located the unaccounted-for occupant," the release stated. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The release stated a "civilian" suffered an injury at the scene, but that person's condition was not released as of Monday.
The home and its contents were destroyed. The fire is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal, but "appears to be accidental in nature."
The Bemidji Ambulance Service, Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and Beltrami Electric also assisted at the scene.
