Officials investigating death of man found in rural Cass Lake yard

Officials found a man dead in the yard of a residence in Pike Bay Township on Sept. 13, 2026. The Cass County Sheriff's Office, Leech Lake Tribal Police and other agencies are investigating.

CASS LAKE — Authorities are investigating the death of a man found in a rural Cass Lake yard Sunday, Sept. 13.

Deputies and other first responders were called to the area of John Moose Drive NW in Pike Bay Township around 8 a.m. after a man was found unresponsive, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Upon arrival, the man lying in a residential yard was pronounced dead.

Assisting Cass County with the investigation are Leech Lake Tribal Police, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota State Patrol.

An autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.

No further information, including the identity of the man, was released as of Monday morning.
