WALKER — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is looking for public input on an updated fisheries management plan for Leech Lake.
In a news release, the agency stated that Leech Lake's popularity as a fishing destination requires intensive monitoring on an annual basis.
“We’ve built upon the successes of the previous plan by providing updates and recommendations on proposed goals, objectives, and actions aimed at preserving a quality fishery in Leech Lake,” stated Wade Massure, Minnesota DNR Walker area fisheries supervisor.
“In the updated plan, we’re looking to continue that success with a focus on balancing predator-prey relationships in the lake and expanding primary and secondary management species."
The plan, which was last updated in 2021, serves as a guide for the agency as it hopes to maintain a quality fishery.
