OUTING — The Cass County Sheriff's Office will conduct a coordinated search on Wednesday, May 6, for a man last seen nearly six years ago.
Jami Lyle Lucas was last seen July 3, 2020, running into a wooded area off Eastburn Road in Crooked Lake Township near Outing. He is a 6-foot, 150-pound white man with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
The search will begin at 10 a.m. in the area Lucas was last seen and coincides with his 1982 birthday. He was 38 years old at the time of his disappearance.
"The Sheriff's Office recognizes the difficulty and uncertainty families face in missing person cases and remains committed to transparency, diligence and compassion throughout this investigation," a news release stated. "This search effort reflects that ongoing commitment to the Lucas family and the broader community."
Search teams will include deputies, trained personnel and coordinated resources to methodically cover the area based on information developed during the investigation.
Anyone who was in the Eastburn Road area on or around July 3, 2020, and recalls seeing anything unusual or anyone else who has information — no matter how small — about the disappearance is encouraged to contact the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
Property owners in the area should be aware of increased law enforcement presence during the search and are requested to report any suspicious activity.
