Superior National Forest open houses set for Ely, Grand Marais

The public can learn more about ongoing projects in the forest on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

ELY — The Superior National Forest will host open houses in Ely and Grand Marais on Thursday, April 23.

Kawishiwi District staff will join other local organizations 4-6 p.m. at Minnesota North College-Vermilion (Fine Arts Theater entrance) in Ely.

The open house is an opportunity to connect with local organizations and land managers on resources, projects and programs available to residents and landowners in and around the Superior National Forest.

Gunflint Ranger District and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources fisheries staff will be available 3-5:30 p.m. at the Schaap Community Center in Grand Marais.

The forest service said Forest Supervisor Tom Hall and others will share information about upcoming road and trail construction, prescribed fire, active management and recreation projects. Attendees can also learn about career, partnership and volunteer opportunities.

The rescheduled Tofte Ranger District Open House is set for 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 27, at the Isabella Community Center.
