Kimberly Soon Jim Rife, 39, died, and her 13-year-old daughter suffered life-threatening injuries. Rife ran an adult foster care and coordinated a program to help hungry students.

SEBEKA — The Sebeka community is mourning the loss of an involved community member after she was killed in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver Sunday night, March 29.

Thirty-nine-year-old Kimberly Soon Jim Rife’s daughter Bailee Mae Rife, 13, was also seriously injured.

A Meal Train and fundraiser have been organized to support the family and the people they care for with their adult foster care home.

As of Tuesday afternoon, more than $6,000 had been raised with 13 meals planned by supporters.

In a social media post, Sebeka Public Schools said Rife “gave so much of herself to others, always showing up with kindness, generosity and a willingness to help wherever she was needed.”

She was a coordinator of the Sebeka and Menahga Backpack program, which provides weekend nutrition for about 200 students.

A community event that Rife helped to plan at Ordella restaurant in Sebeka called One Table will go on Wednesday night in her memory.

People are invited to gather for conversation and dinner of free taco salads from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
