VIRGINIA — St. Louis County is hosting two listening sessions for public input on how to use opioid settlement funds.
The committee is seeking ideas to serve people in the criminal justice system.
Representatives of organizations that focus their work on substance use disorder or criminal justice intervention services are especially encouraged to attend.
The first session will be 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the Government Services Center, 201 South Third Ave. W., Virginia. The second session will be 3-4:30 p.m. April 16 at the Government Services Center, 320 W. Second St., Duluth.
Virtual attendance options will be made available for both sessions via pre-registration.
St. Louis County’s opioid remediation funds advisory committee was established in early 2022 following the national settlement of a class-action lawsuit involving several opioid manufacturers and distributors.
The committee has recommended investing the funds in areas that focus on harm reduction and criminal justice intervention. St. Louis County has received three rounds of funding so far from the settlement.
Input from the listening sessions will guide the committee to establish its request for proposals process in 2026. Projects would be selected by early winter.
