DETROIT LAKES — Detroit Lakes will return to the state gymnastics meet Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, in St. Paul to defend their state title.
The 2025 Class A title was the Lakers' sixth championship, and the first since they won five in a row from 2015-2019.
Seniors Maggie Schander and Addy Laux will again compete in the all-around competition; they were second and seventh, respectively, last year.
Senior Olivia Gag will again compete in the vault, where she finished seventh last year. This year, she’ll also compete in floor exercise.
Junior Aubrey Kordosky will compete on the balance beam, as will Pillager sophomore Gretta Grimsley, competing for the Little Falls Flyers.
Grimsley will be the first Flyer to compete at state in 12 years.
The top team in each section advances to the state tournament. The top three individuals from each section advance for the all-around championships, as well as the top three in each event who are not competing in the all-around.
The Minnesota State High School League's spectator guide includes the full schedule, ticket information and other attendee details. The meet will be streamed by NSPN; a subscription is required.
