MINNEAPOLIS — How do you top a repeat championship? The Brainerd Warriors Dance Team found a way.
They started their weekend at state by winning the Class 3A jazz title Friday, Feb. 13, at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The team had never before medaled in jazz.
Then on Saturday, the team won its third consecutive state high kick title.
Crosby-Ironton finaled in jazz and high kick, finishing fifth in both categories.
"Looking back, there have been a lot of obstacles and bumps in the road, but there were also a lot of celebrations, achievements, and small moments that made us proud," a social media post from the Crosby-Ironton Dance Team read. "Being a dancer and having big goals is not easy, but it is always worth it."
As a seventh-generation Nebraskan, Emma Krab said she looks forward to discovering rural life in Northern Minnesota. She holds a master's degree in Creative Writing and Environment and bachelor degrees in journalism and English.
