Babbitt Mayor Andrea Zupancich is running as a Republican candidate for state Senate District 3 in 2026.

The mayor of Babbitt — a Republican — lost to DFLer Sen. Grant Hauschild in Senate District 3 by 703 votes in 2022.

BABBITT — Babbitt Mayor Andrea Zupancich will again run for state Senate District 3, setting up a likely rematch with DFL Sen. Grant Hauschild.

The Republican said she would use her experience as a mother, wife, mayor and small business owner in office.

She owns the real estate company z’Up North, and her husband is a fourth-generation owner of Zups grocery.

“Throughout my work, I have always stood strong for our way of life and fought for our shared values. I hope to bring my experience in business and local government to St. Paul to ensure Minnesota is the best place to work and raise a family," she stated in her announcement. "My campaign is built on honesty and integrity with a singular focus on supporting the good families of the Northland.”

Zupancich called out Hauschild, stating he is a "rubber stamp for the far-left, metro agenda.”

“The people of Senate District 3 were sold a bill of goods and have been hung out to dry by metro politicians and our state senator over the last three years,” Zupancich stated.

“I am running to restore balance in state government and bring forward common sense solutions that make life more affordable for these families.”
