The Thunderhawks advanced despite being the third-seeded team in their section, while Esko held the top seed in theirs. The state tournament begins Oct. 21, 2025.

Grand Rapids and Esko will represent the Northland in the girls soccer state tournament later this month.

The No. 3 Thunderhawks beat No. 5 Hermantown in the 7AA section finals 1-0 in overtime Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Top-seeded Esko beat the co-op of Proctor, South Ridge and Stella Maris Academy 1-0 in the 7A championship on Tuesday.

No boys soccer teams from rural Northern Minnesota advanced to state.

Seeding for the state tournament will take place Saturday, with brackets updated soon after.

Quarterfinals will be played Oct. 21-23, with the sites and dates announced after seeding. Semifinals are Oct. 29, and finals are Oct. 31, both at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The full schedule, tickets and streaming information are available from the MSHSL. KAXE will also keep you up to date on results.
