DULUTH — The National Weather Service is warning of near-critical fire weather conditions Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 4 and 5.
With dry conditions over the past week and limited rain expected, increasing winds and low relative humidity can cause outdoor fires to quickly spread.
Relative humidity across the Arrowhead could be as low as 40%. Wind gusts of 25-35 mph on Saturday and gusts up to 40 mph Sunday are expected. Stronger winds are expected closer to Lake Superior.
The Minnesota DNR's fire danger map shows most of the western and northern portions of the state in high fire danger as of Friday.
