STAPLES — Lakewood Health System will host an open house for its new cancer center 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10.
The more than 19,000-square-foot addition off the southwest corner of the main Staples clinic was built to meet growing needs for rural oncology care, according to a release.
"Since 2022, Lakewood’s oncology department has expanded to offer patients a wide spectrum of cancer care," the release stated. The team includes three oncologists and two nurse practitioners, with radiation oncology and palliative care also offered.
The new center offers a dedicated reception and waiting area, infusion bays, exam rooms, a procedure room, as well as in-house scan systems and radiation treatment technology.
"With the growth in provider coverage, came the need for additional space. The cancer center was built to meet these growing needs, which also allows Lakewood to add new services not previously available to patients in the area."
The open house will feature tours of the new building, meet the oncology team and learn more about new services being provided.
Refreshments will be available. Attendees are asked to park and enter at Entrance B, on the south end of the Staples clinic, 49235 County 83.
