The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has preliminarily decided to issue the permits, and comment is open until Sept. 10, 2025.

WADENA — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is taking comment on feedlot permits for two Jennie-O Turkey Store farms in Northern Minnesota through 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The agency has made a preliminary determination to issue permits for a farm in Ada and Hiltner Farm in Wadena.

Hiltner Farm is in the Redeye River watershed and will house 129,000 turkeys in total confinement barns. Solid manure will be stockpiled and applied to surrounding cropland.

The Ada farm is in the Wild Rice River watershed. It will house 312,000 turkeys in total confinement barns and manage its manure in the same way as Hiltner.

Additional information on the permits and the comment portal are on the MPCA's website.
