ELY — St. Louis County Public Health and its partners are presenting the first-ever "Community Connect" event for the Ely area on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The event will offer a meal and transportation to and from the Ely Area Community Hub from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. via Arrowhead Transit.
"This free event has a focus on being age-friendly, where people can stop in for a meal, access multiple services and learn about resources available to them," stated St. Louis County in a release.
Resources and services will also be offered for housing, children and family, health insurance, mental health and substance use disorder, warrant resolutions, vaccine and disease education and more.
The event is based on the national Project Homeless Connect, which began in 2004 in San Francisco and has since spread across the country. Cosponsors include the Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital, the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency, Essentia Health, Medica and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
