CASS LAKE — A shooting at a home Thursday, Aug. 28, in rural Cass Lake resulted in serious injuries for a 40-year-old Cass Lake man.
At 2:14 a.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a shooting incident at a residence in the Prescott Housing area in Wilkinson Township, south of Cass Lake.
Deputies and responders arrived at the residence and learned that an unknown man entered the home and shot an occupant before fleeing the scene.
Deputies immediately rendered medical aid to the victim and he was transported to Sanford Health-Bemidji with serious injuries.
The incident remains under investigation with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The sheriff's office reported it does not believe there is a threat to the public.
Assisting at the scene were the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department and the Cass Lake Ambulance.
