WALKER — A 59-year-old Cass Lake woman died after crashing a pontoon onto the south shore of Leech Lake on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk said in a news release that his office received a report around 1:25 p.m. of a boat crashing into the rocks and shoreline near Walker City Park.
Responders found the woman unresponsive in a 2016 Regency Tri-Toon.
Lifesaving efforts immediately began, according to the release, and continued while the woman was transported to the Walker airport, where she was pronounced dead.
The woman was the only occupant of the boat.
An autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
The Walker police and fire departments and North Memorial Health Ambulance and Air Care assisted in the response.
