Rock Ridge takes home silver at state tennis tourney

Wolverines Dimberio and Sandnas finished second in the consolation bracket. Cloquet's Lavan and Thief River Falls' Cornelius won their first matches before losing in the second round.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Rock Ridge boys tennis team are the 2025 Class A runners-up.

In their fifth-straight state appearance, the Wolverines beat Redwood Valley 5-2 and narrowly defeated Rochester Lourdes 4-3 to advance to the championship. In the final match-up, Rock Ridge was swept by St. Paul Academy and Summit School, who won their fourth consecutive title.

After a narrow two-set loss to Rochester Lourdes in the first round, Rock Ridge doubles senior Grady Dimberio and junior Aidan Sandnas came back to finish second in the consolation bracket.

Hibbing juniors Isaiah Hildenbrand and Keaton Petrick beat Thief River Falls seniors Spencer Hempel and Lucas Rantanen in the first round of the consolation bracket before falling to the eventual consolation champions from Pine City.

Cloquet junior Ethan Lavan and Thief River Falls junior Jett Cornelius both advanced to the second round of the singles bracket before losing to the No. 2- and No. 3-ranked competitors, respectively.
