BRAINERD — The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host two open houses about the upcoming Highway 210/Washington Street roadwork project in Brainerd planned for 2026 and 2027.
The events are set for noon-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, in the lower level of the Crow Wing County Land Services Building, 322 Laurel St., Brainerd. Parking is available off Laurel Street.
Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the project team, ask questions and learn about tentative work and detour plans/routes.
The estimated $51.3 million project will reconstruct and update both directions of Highway 210/Washington Street through Brainerd in 2026–27. Local access to businesses and residences will be open, but motorists should expect changes when in the work zone. Through traffic will encounter detours to complete work beneath the road, MnDOT reported.
2026 work will include the eastern portion to the Kingwood Street area, including roundabouts and new connections at mall/railyard area. Work in 2027 is planned in the Kingwood Street area westward, including the Mississippi River bridge. Any remaining work is expected to be wrapped up in 2028.
