RED LAKE — One person suffered injury after a house explosion Friday, Oct. 4, in Red Lake.
The Red Lake Department of Public Safety reported the explosion injured the only person at home in an area near Thunder Lake and Back of Town Drive, known as BOT.
First responders transported the resident to Red Lake Indian Health Services, where they are reportedly in stable condition. The home was destroyed, and multiple area homes were also impacted by the explosion.
Red Lake Conservation and the Red Lake and Ponemah fire departments remained on scene to determine the cause of the explosion, which was unknown Friday afternoon. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were notified of the incident, according to the release.
Assistance is available at the scene through the Red Cross for those affected by the explosion. Authorities asked the public to stay clear of the area until the investigation is complete.
"We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation as we work through this incident," the release stated. "Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our citizens."
The Red Lake Tribal Council has a Google Form for BOT community members in need of assistance, including mental health services.
