PALISADE — The detour around the reconstruction on Highway 169 north of Aitkin will be extended after Labor Day weekend.
Motorists coming north will travel east to McGregor and then north to Palisade before returning west to Highway 169. Crews will then begin reconstruction of the intersection in Hassman.
Access will be open and maintained to those who live, work or visit within the closed work zone. People should expect changes to access, flaggers and periodic stops or alternating one-way traffic.
In an email, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said to plan ahead for possible delays, especially during peak traffic times. Tourists who normally use this route should consider an alternative.
