FORT RIPLEY — Authorities suspect a 49-year-old Fort Ripley woman whose body was found lying in a roadway died after she was struck by a vehicle.

Authorities on Monday, June 26, identified the body reported Sunday morning by a passerby as Angela Marie McClelland. The passerby called 911 at 5:41 a.m. to report a possible body lying in the roadway off Highway 371, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the intersection of Legend Lane and Killian Road in Fort Ripley Township and confirmed the report of a body lying in Killian Road. Legend Lane is a frontage road following the highway’s southbound lanes, across from Stewarts Forest Products.

McClelland is believed to have died after being struck by a vehicle, according to a Monday update from the sheriff’s office.

According to a spokesperson, McClelland lived in the vicinity of the scene.

Sheriff’s investigators, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are continuing to follow up on investigative leads, the release stated.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office. Witnesses or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious near Legend Lane and Killian Road in the early morning hours of Sunday is asked to contact 218-829-4749.
