energy independence a century later in Hibbing

Aaron Brown joined us this morning to talk about history and the future of the range. And public utilities.

Aaron's become a bit of a big deal in the world of public utilities. Really. But Aaron's extensive historic research for his book on Hibbing's progressive Victor Power(and a podcast on KAXE!) put him in the unique position to understand how 100 years ago Hibbing was able to generate his own energy - and how today they are making a dramatic shift in energy.

Hibbing Public Utilitiesis renaming their power facility as the "Hibbing Renewable Energy Center". This once coal powered plant has restored their high efficiency wood boiler to burn wood waste from Savanna Pallets in McGregor.
