Meadowlands, MN has a human population of less than 200, is home to the Whiteface River and holds bragging rights of the Sax Zim Bog which is home to over 200 species of wildlife. Sparky Stensaas, executive director of the Friends of the Sax Zim Bog, discusses the history and offerings of the bog. Lifelong area resident Helen Abramson discusses how she and her husband started the annual birding festival, the history of the Bohemian National Hall, and she even shares the story of how an application for a beer license resulted in shots fired at a township meeting back in the 1940s! We’ll also hear from Meadowlands transplant and Northern Community Radio’s Mom of Pop Culture Julie Crabb who takes us inside the Trailside Lounge and Grill as well as the Meadowlands Fair.
