Melissa Febosis the author of the books Whip Smart and Body Works and she teaches nonfiction writing at the University of Iowa. Her critically acclaimed book Girlhood was published in 2020 and it’s now available in paperback, Girlhood is a collection of powerful essays and stories from Melissa’s life highlighting her own transformation from girlhood to adolescence, a time when girls bodies begin to change and patriarchal and societal forces begin to shape them into the women they will become. Girlhood is engaging and provocative and unflinchingly honest. Melissa analyzes several personal,and explicit encounters from her past in her book. This interview contains some mature content.
