Barbara Schlichting, Author: History, Homicides and First Ladies

Barbara Schlichting

Barbara Schlichting's First Lady Mystery series connects historical events with the modern world.  So far, she's written former first ladies Mary Lincoln, Dolley Madison and Edith Roosevelt into homicides related to a seemingly innocent dollhouse store in downtown Minneapolis. A prolific writer, Schlichting also wrote the mystery Body on the Tracks, several children's books, poetry, and she's developed a Martha Washington picture book focusing on her early days as first lady. We spoke with Schlichting on the morning show about her books, her research and herlongtime interest in first ladies.

As part of the Brainerd Writers Alliance, Schlichting will present “Making Historical Figures Modern,” April 28, 2018, 11:00 a.m.—12:30 p.m. at Prairie Bay in Brainerd.
