This week we talked with Jesse Davis and Cherice Hartshorn from the Grand Rapids Farmers Market. Cherice lives on a farm in Cohasset with her husband and children raising produce and making jams and jellies. Jesse Davis and his husband Warren Alto farm garlic and other produce at Trout Lake Garlic Farm.
We also found out more about how Farmers Markets and farmers are fitting into the MN Legislative Session for 2022 with Kathy Zeman, Executive Director of the MN Farmers Market Association. She has worked very closely with the MN Department of Agriculture over the last decade to raise awareness about the economic, social and health benefits of Farmers' Markets. This year the House Agriculture committee has 1.25 million dollars their budgets for farmers' markets. The Senate has no money in the budget for it. Find out who represents you and how to contact them at the MN Legislature here.
