The Kalevala Puppet Pageant is 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at the New York Mills VFW, and noon Saturday, Aug. 19, at Finn Creek Museum. The pageant is based on tales from the Finnish book of legends and features larger-than-life puppets and songs.

The First Friday Art Walk is a monthly celebration of art and community that takes place in downtown Grand Rapids. Katie Marshall, executive director of MacRostie Art Center, joined the “KAXE Morning Show” to talk about participating venues and outdoor spaces, as well as the annual Downtown Art Fair, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at the Old Central School lawn.

The auction is online starting 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, and ending 5 p.m. July 30. Proceeds for the auction will be split between Crossing Arts Kids for Creativity Kits and Lakes Area Skatepark Association to help fund a skate park in Brainerd.
