Artists design skateboard decks to raise funds for Brainerd skate park

Three skateboard decks painted with original work. One shows a cartoonish person with a can of spray paint in their hands. They are wearing pink colored glasses and have teal hair. The backdrop looks like graffiti. Another shows an astronaut in space above earth with a purple and green octopus. Another is lime green with a skull with blue eyes. The skull has an orange salamander on top of it and is missing a tooth.

BRAINERD — The Crossing Arts Alliance and the Lakes Area Skatepark Association teamed up to present the “Across the Board Skate Deck Auction,” July 5-29 in the Crossing Arts Gallery.

The exhibition features the work of 20 local artists, who donated their artistic talents to skate decks.

“These pieces are truly one of a kind, and handmade with love for the community of the Brainerd Lakes Area and everyone in it!” a news release stated.

The closing reception will be 5-7 p.m. July 28. There will be snacks provided by sponsors Coco Moon and Big Jay’s Pizza Arcade, as well as a community skateboard deck the organization is asking for help to paint. The community-painted deck will be raffled at the event for the winner to take home.

This event is free to the public and for all ages. Donations are welcomed.
