Kathy "Dodger" Dodge

Kathy Dodge passed away surrounded by friends and family on March 19th, 2022 from ALS

It was with heavy hearts during our Friday Morning Show broadcast today that we remembered Kathy Dodge - longtime member, volunteer and host of the Morning Show. She was a force to be reckoned with. Beloved by her husband, family and legions of friends. From an email chain from her women's group:

Her influence is everywhere – in her former students, 1st Fridays and arts in Grand Rapids, the orchestra, KAXE, the Dodge/Downing family, everything arts related, and of course, with our group.

I loved Dodger’s enthusiasm and candor. She wasn’t afraid to ask difficult questions or to push you in the right direction, even if it rocked the boat. She saw how hard people worked and she called attention to our efforts. She loved to read, talk and talk and talk, listen to stories, drink cocktails and eat good food and just be experiencing everything with the love of her life: Steve.

Kathy Dodge and Steve Downing stand together in their love of the arts.

We hope to celebrate her through continued appreciation of the arts and a gathering in early summer.

following a struggle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

Born in Syracuse, New York in 1945, Dodge spent most of her life in Minnesota. She’d lived in Grand Rapids since 1974.
