Grand Rapids Area Library children's librarian Tracy Kampa reviews and recommends new children's books of interest for What We're Reading.

This week on What We're Reading, Grand Rapids Area Library children's librarian Tracy Kampa shared new picture and middle-grade books.

Kampa recommended the picture books Crown for Corina by Laekan Zea Kemp and All By Myself, by Stephanie Shaw, which Kampa called a "delightfully twisted fairy tale."

Kampa also recommended the middle-grade book The Lost Year, by Katherine Marsh. She noted Marsh's careful research and called The Lost Year "great historical fiction and a really good book."

Another middle-grade book Kampa recommended is Hoops, writer Matt Tavares' debut graphic novel about a 1970s girls high school basketball team. She praised the book as "a thought-provoking, ultimately joyful book. If you've never read a graphic novel this is an excellent place to start."
