Nubiyan Twist released their latest album Find Your Flame on May 3, 2024.

'Find Your Flame' by Nubiyan Twist is KAXE's Album of the Week for May 27-June 2, 2024.

With the addition of vocalist Aziza Jaye, Nubiyan Twist takes their globetrotting jazz to new heights on Find Your Flame.

The now nine-piece group formed in 2011 at the Leeds College of Music around bandleader Tom Excell, eventually releasing their debut in 2015. They quickly gained recognition for their jazz-based take on hip-hop, soul, funk and music from around the world.

On Find Your Flame, their 4th full-length album, the group's wide range of musical styles is on full display, tied together into a cohesive sound by new vocalist Jaye, fantastic horn-led melodies, and a star-studded guest list.

Disco pioneer Nile Rodgers brings his trademark guitar riffs to "Lights Out," an upbeat dance track with uplifting lyrics from Jaye. The skill and range of the band's horn section are on immediate display. Within four minutes they maintain the earworm melody, add a funky saxophone solo, and effortlessly lay down an Afrobeat breakdown.

Jaye stars in the dancehall-inspired "So Mi Stay," her patois verses overflowing with style and confidence. Excell's arrangement successfully brings bass and electronic flourishes into the mix.

From start to finish Find Your Flame is a party. One where no matter the style of music the host is playing, you want to get on the floor and dance.
