Captain Planet is a musician inspired by music around the globe.
A collaborator to the max, Captain Planet, aka Charlie Wilder, has worked with musicians of all kinds throughout his career as a DJ and music producer. On his latest and fifth album, Sounds Like Home, he connected with Zimbabwean-American Shungudzo, Brazilian musicians Tagua Tagua and Zuzuka Poderose, Jimena Angel from Spain, Marseille-based David Walters and more.
“The basic concept was to make a record like the ones I constantly pull off my shelves at home and play on the weekends,” Wilder was quoted as saying by Plaid Room Records. “The records that turn into living room dance parties with my family, the soundtracks while I'm cooking, the music that fills the backyard for lazy hang outs.”
Sounds Like Home is layered and vibrant with Latin funk, Jamaican dub, reggae, Middle Eastern psychedelia, Brazilian disco and American soul mixed in, throwing down all the vibes.
