Meaning "golden day" in Turkish, Altin Gun takes that meaning to heart, bringing warmth and energy in to each of their releases.
Out with their fifth album, Aşk, Altin Gun captures traditional Turkish sounds informed by the music of the '70s, all while keeping rooted in 2023. Though they shifted to a more synth-electro sound on their last albums, this release marks a return to the psychedelic-folk sounds of their first two releases.
The album flows from the mesmorizing "Çit Çit Çedene," to the raucous "Rakiya Su Katamam," to the bouncy "Canim Oy." On "Kalk Gidelim," vocalist Merve Dasdemir channels a bit of Stevie Nicks, while the last track "Doktor Civanim" offers one last energetic burst from the band.
