Kashimana's new album is out July, 28, 2023.

She stopped by Centerstage Minnesota to speak about the project.

In 2019, the Minneapolis singer/songwriter was commissioned by the Cedar Cultural Center to write an original piece of music on a topic of her choosing.

With her first child recently born, she chose the life changing experience of becoming a mother.

Plans to turn the project into an album were put on hold during the pandemic. With the extra time she learned to use a looping station, and vocal loops feature prominently on the new work.

Phantom Cries is out now, and you can hear the full conversation with Kashimana conversation above.

Malachy started his radio career at a college radio station, where he played weird music in the middle of the night to possibly no one. On a good night maybe his parents were listening. Nonetheless, he was hooked on public radio and is still doing it today. He joined Northern Community Radio in 2022, where he gets to share his passion for local music as Producer of Centerstage Minnesota, an all Minnesota music show airing Fridays at 2pm.
