Minnesota Lions Hearing Foundation's annual Walk to D-Feet Hearing Loss returns to Bemidji on Saturday, June 6, 2026, beginning at Diamond Point Park.

BEMIDJI — Community walks often bring people together around a shared cause.

Some people who will participate in The Minnesota Lions Hearing Foundation's annual Walk to D-Feet Hearing Loss are Lions members. Others could have a personal reason for joining, like knowing someone who has dealt with hearing loss. Either way, the community will gather for a shared purpose.

The sixth walk of its kind will take place in Bemidji on Saturday, June 6, beginning at Diamond Point Park before continuing to the Paul and Babe statues and back.

Joy Barclay, part of the Lions' D-Feet Walk Committee, said on the Bright Spot on the KAXE Morning Show that the Hearing Foundation began in 1973. It lends support across the nation for screening for infants and adults and for developing cochlear implants, among other things.

The Foundation also collects hearing aids, with six drop-off locations in the Bemidji area. The donated hearing aids get taken apart, and parts are sold to hearing companies to help fund the Affordable Hearing Program.

For those looking for help with hearing problems or interested in getting involved in the Lions Club, visit the Bemidji Lions Club website or Bemidji – First City Lions page.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, and the walk starts at 9:45 a.m. Register for the walk at the event page or in person before the event. Kids under 12 can participate for free.

After the Annual Walk to D-Feet Hearing Loss, there will be lunch, games and activities, and the Empty Cooler Band will perform.
