Events Up North Oct. 27-Nov. 1: Halloween activities, ski swap

Events this week include many Halloween themed activities, an opportunity to learn curling in Grand Rapids and an art reception in Bemidji.

It's another busy week in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:

Monday, Oct. 27

  • Fall Harvest Night - 5 to 7 p.m. at the Itasca County Family YMCA in Grand Rapids. Come in costume for a light meal, kids' games, a slightly spooky trail, dance party and more.

Brainerd Community Theater presents “Dracula A Comedy of Terrors” Oct. 23-Nov. 1, 2025. Director Amy Borash and producer Joey Yow joined “Area Voices” to discuss the production.

Friday, Oct. 31

  • Trunk or Treat - 4 to 6 p.m. on Chestnut Street in downtown Virginia
  • Trunk or Treat - 4 to 6 p.m. at the Emeralds Nursing Home in Grand Rapids
  • Trunk or Treat - 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids
  • Halloween Skate - 5 p.m. from the Bangsberg Hall parking lot at Bemidji State University. Bike, skate or roll down Beltrami Avenue. Costumes encouraged. Go the whole route or part of it.
  • Halloween Bash - 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Marcell Family Center
  • Screamatorium Haunted House - 6 to 10 p.m. at CHAIR in Virginia (tamer version for young kids from 4 to 6 p.m.)
  • Learn to Curl - 6 p.m. at the Itasca Curling Club in Grand Rapids
  • Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors - 9 p.m. at the Chalberg Theater on the Central Lakes College campus in Brainerd
