Events Up North Sept. 22-27: Honktoberfest, Great Northern Art Show

Events this week include a community gathering in Brainerd, a memorial blood drive in Baxter, a modern dance film showing in Puposky and a book launch in Bemidji.

It's another busy week in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:

Cultivating Communities Summit Community Gathering from the Sowing Room - 4:30-6 p.m. at Mississippi River Amphitheater Park in Brainerd
Join or Die documentary screening, followed by Q&A with the film's producers - 6:30-9 p.m. at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts in Brainerd

Book launch for Marley Kaul's Paintings - 5-7 p.m. at Watermark Art Center in Bemidji

Blood drive in memory of Ironton resident Leon Schefers - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Northland Arboretum in Baxter
Dementia Lunch & Learn - noon to 2 p.m. at The Pillars of Grand Rapids. Registration required by Sept. 24. Call ElderCircle at 218-999-9233, ext. 282.

Association of Cass County Lakes meeting - 9:30 a.m. at the Cass County land office in Backus
Honktoberfest Festmasters' Ball - 6 p.m. at Biwabik Pavilion
Modern dance film showing: Feû - 7 p.m. at the Mask and Rose Theater in Puposky

Honktoberfest - 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Biwabik
Brainerd Lakes Area Walk to End Alzheimer's - 9 a.m. registration at Forestview Middle School in Baxter. Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. with the walk to follow.
Itasca Pride Community Tree Planting - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Northern Lights Community School in Warba. Events include a free barbecue, live music, games and disc golf.
Loon Country Arts presents the Great Northern Art Show - 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Beltrami County History Center in Bemidji
A Year in the Life of North America's Woodpeckers - 2 p.m. at Sax-Zim Bog. Meet at the Lois King Education Center.
