Anytime is a good time for pie, but Pi Day is a great excuse to get together and enjoy a slice or two (or more! We won't judge.) The first three digits of the mathematical constant pi are 3.14, so that's why we celebrate on March 14.
You are invited to "A Slice of Pie" social on Friday, March 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at KAXE in Grand Rapids or KBXE in Bemidji. (If you planned it right, you could even go to both!) We will have tons of pies, plus coffee and conversation with our staff.
Here's what we heard

Cloud in Hackensack texted, "My mother's specialty was grasshopper pie. Crushed chocolate wafer crust, and inside was crème de menthe with marshmallow cream and I think a little cream cheese. Yum. Then chocolate cookie sprinkles on the top."
Green Cheese Trivia host Mike Spry said, "RHUBARB!! The first one of summer is the best!"
Carolin in Grand Rapids agreed. She said, "Love my grandma's rhubarb custard pie. Always the first thing I make with rhubarb in the spring! Happy with any fruit pies though!"

Another Green Cheese Trivia host, Justine Jacobson, said, "Key lime pie is my go-to. Four ingredients and a graham cracker crust, and everybody loves it. The recipe on the bottle of Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime Juice is perfectly simple."
Susan from Otenegan Township near Deer River wrote, "My favorite pie is a peach cream pie that my mom makes. It does have a flaky homemade crust and fresh Colorado peaches in a whole cream, sugar, eggs and a bit of flour mixture. Kinda like a custard. Yum."
Nora shared on Facebook, "I make a delicious pistachio-topped rosewater custard pie with cardamom. The crust is made of those airplane cookies and pistachios."
Todd said, "I love lemon meringue, but I only buy those. I make my fruit fave, cherry, but canned cherries are not optimal. I recently had one with Michigan tart cherries and it was a revelation. Firm, tart. But it needs a good crust to stand up to the fruit."
